Zack Whitmer

Director of Badass Apparel
Zack has been involved in athletics practically his whole life. Beginning at the age of 6 he played tackle football in Los Angeles CA., where he grew up and continued to play through his senior year of High School. When he graduated in 2001 he had no specific plan of what he wanted to do athletically. He dabbled in BJJ, Muay Thai and body building. While attempting to find what he wanted to do to stay active, his health took a big hit and he rapidly started to gain weight.

Zack’s story is one of transformation. Back in 2013, he had gone from 215 lbs. in high school to 320 lbs., and it all came to a head when he struggled through a half marathon that took over four hours — a painful, humbling moment that forced him to take charge of his health. That turning point led him to Northern Colorado, where he discovered CrossFit, strength and conditioning, and eventually a passion for powerlifting, kettlebell training, and nutrition. By 2015, Zack had earned his StrongFirst Kettlebell certification and, through discipline and flexible dieting, shed 104 lbs. in just 18 months.

What began as a deeply personal journey quickly evolved into a vision to help others experience the same transformation. Drawing from his own trials, studies, and experimentation, Zack built a foundation of knowledge in training and nutrition and partnered in shaping the culture and mission of this business. His perspective — rooted in lived experience — helped establish the standard of authenticity and results that still drives the company today.

Now, Zack’s role is less about day-to-day coaching and more about advising and supporting the operating team. As an owner, he continues to bring vision, guidance, and a commitment to ensuring that others have access to the kind of resources, coaching, and environment that changed his own life.
